yep. We now have an administration that thinks "birth control helps the economy".... I think Rush said it best when he stated Pesoli's (and I'll toss in Obama's) portrait in cheap hotel rooms will accomplish the goal without the billions of MY taxpayer dollars going toward it.

As a matter of fact, I'm faxing a proposal to "create the portraiture".. it would certainly be a great economic stimulus to our business to obtain such a contract. It wouldn't be hard to create one for the ultimate goal above.

Also, it appears Obama is now "proud" of his Muslim heritage... humm. America, beware.

I don't get wingnuts like you... first people having too many babies is a problem, and then someone wants to sensibly provide alternatives to un-managed fertility and you find fault with that too? Which is it?

And why shouldn't Obama be proud of his heritage? What's yours? I'm proud of my irish and german heritage too.

But then again, someone that considers an addled incontinent old gasbag drug addict like Rush Limbaugh an inspiration for your tasteless (and not really funny) sexism, is just a waste of good posting.

Peace

one quick question fjblau... Before the election (and all during the campaign for that matter) everyone including Obama himself played down his Muslim heritage - ie, avoiding the use of his middle name Hussein etc..

I agree with you fjblau, he SHOULD have been proud of his heritage. He tried to hide it. Suddenly now, he's proud of it again. How interesting.

Proud to be considered a "wingnut" by a bleeding heart liberal :) Want an autographed copy of Pelosi's portrait commission for Motel 6's since you seem to be a fan?
Peace back at you.

PS- "unmanaged fertility"? Do you mean irresponsibility? Abstinence is free FYI.

Also, be careful about pointing addiction fingers - your friend Obama was quite a participant in addictive behaviors and not sparked by documented medical situations as R's problems were.

Man you really are a kool aid drinker. I can't even figure what your point is about heritage, but then again, you seem to want to accuse President Obama of something, otherwise you wouldn't have anything to agree with Rush about. Whatever. About the same thing as Bush not being proud of being a native Yankee and pretending to be a Texan, on the scale of relevance in my book.

"Abstinence is free FYI." Yeah, and as an exclusive educational goal, fails. Do you need to see the data demonstrating that? I fully support teaching children accurate physiology, biology and reproductive health, including birth control AND the role of abstinence. But hey, you can teach your children whatever you want at home. In public schools however, we have standards.

And yeah, being an Oxycontin addict (and lying about it) is EXACTLY the same as having tried drugs in college (and being honest about it). Especially the part where you get fake prescriptions and fill them in foreign countries to feed your addiction. No difference there at ALL.

Better make sure your tinfoil hat fits well for the next 4 years. You're going to need it to protect you.

Peace.

fjblau, you really get your jollies from personal insults don't you.

Obviously you are out of touch at what is happening in public schools today, including Obama's vote *against* software that could block access to Porn and sexually explicit material in the public schools. You need to take special note that your friend Obama was the ONLY vote against this in BOTH parties. Your comment about public schools having "standards"??.. I guess this is what you are referring to.

Close your eyes fjblau and "trust" those public schools (especially now w/ Obama at the helm) teach your kids today. Keep it up and see where our society is in a few more generations if it continues in it's current directions.

Plain and simple, Obama is using our tax dollars to kill babies. Obama is going to be Americas downfall, he has already started with his speach when he stood there and said we are a country of Jews, Christians, Muslims and un-beleivers. Sounds to me like Rodney King saying.."Cant we all just get along"? And his first sit down was not with America on television, but with Arabic television for a Muslim nation to hear him. He is going to make George W. look like a saint in his first year of office when we get attacked again and he thinks he can make peace with the middle east. Oh and Frank (fiblau) you said "someone wants to sensibly provide to un-managed fertility to un-managed fertility" Excuse meeeeee...abortion is MURDER! managed fertility my ass. How would you like to have someone grab and rip your body parts off of in your mothers womb and then crush your head and drag you out of her body? Its murder, plain and simple and people like you just want to call it by another name so YOU dont have to be accountable.  When you die and are standing in front of GOD try talking your way out of that one pal.

"Plain and simple, Obama is using our tax dollars to kill babies."

Hahah... as opposed to Bush using our tax dollars to kill babies.

Of course the sheer idiocy of equating sex education to abortion is well, indicative of your pea-brain ideology. But I don't expect we'll be having a reasonable abortion rights debate HERE.

My God is already pro-choice, so I'm not terribly concerned about what yours says. It's YOUR hell dude, YOU burn in it, bigot.

There is only ONE GOD. He is the King of Kings. There are no others. There were many who called themselves GOD, but not one of them rose agian from the dead, only Jesus did.

AMEN!

@rmlsf -

OH REALLY?!?!?

do you personally know of anyone who has risen from the dead? “No,” But I bet you will say yes! "I Know Jesus!"...
Ok you say, that Jesus rose from the dead. Well, why is it important that Jesus rose from the dead? Oh, it means he has conquered death and that all the believers can now go to heaven and live for eternity. Do you really believe that? Or, is it something that your parents or minister has told you over and over since your early childhood?

Is rising from the dead a big deal? That was Jesus’ big act for sure. Well, according to the bible, there were other people that rose from the dead before and after the time of Jesus.

(1.) In Kings 17:17, 21, 22 Elijah stretched himself upon a dead child three times and the dead child revived. It might be well that we put down the exact words in the KJV bible. Starting with verse 17: “And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.

(18) And she said unto Elijah, “What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? Are thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?”

(19) And he (Elijah) said unto her, “Give me thy son.” And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.

(20) And he cried unto the LORD, and said, “O LORD my God, has thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?”

(21) And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the LORD, and said, “O, LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child’s soul come into him again.”

(22) And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.

Was the child dead or just unconscious? The mother said there was no breath in him. I take that to mean he was not breathing. Then the widow remonstrated against Elijah blaming him for slaying her son. She didn’t say that Elijah made her son unconscious or to pass out, she said “slay,” so she believed her son to be dead and believed that Elijah killed him. Then in verse 20, Elijah asked God why He has brought evil on the widow by “slaying” her son. Again, Elijah believes the boy has been slain.

Then Elijah stretched himself over the boy three times (why three times?) and God heard the voice of Elijah and the soul came into the child again. Well, for those that believe you have an eternal soul, once it leaves the body, that makes the body dead—doesn’t it?

Revive is an intransitive verb that means to return to consciousness or to return to life. So, the statement that the boy revived is not conclusive as to whether the boy was dead or unconscious.

I can only point out here that the widow and Elijah both believed the boy to be dead, so this is a case of someone coming back from the dead—just like Jesus is said to have done.

(2.) Next case is in 1 Samuel 28:7, et seq. Saul was faced with the Philistine army and was afraid of getting beat, so he inquired of God, but God was silent, so Saul sought out a woman who could contact the spirit world.

They found such a woman, and she communicated with Samuel who was already dead and buried. In verse 15, Samuel said to Saul, “Why hast thou disquieted me up?”

This is not exactly bringing someone back to full life from the dead, but it is communicating with a dead person, and it was brought about not by a god, but by the Witch of En-dor. This is almost ludicrous, a witch (really they don’t exist) communicating with a dead person. Well, it shows you that the bible writers could write some tall tales.

Must I keep going on??? I can go on and on mentioning all the characters that came back from the dead...

Gary keep your post here, they are more fun!

You seem absolutely positive that Jesus is, of course, unique and the first of his kind. They are unaware that the myth of their Christ is similar to several other god-men myths. Here are some of those other mythical god-men that Jesus, the Christian Messiah, apparently shares roots with. While most Christians are unaware of these god-men, others will deny their existence and say that I (or anyone else who mentions them) is telling a lie. If not that, the devil simply planted the story of Jesus into the minds of people long ago, to lead the astray from the true Christ.

Attis of Phrygia

--Attis was born on December 25 of the Virgin Nana.
--He was considered the savior who was slain for the salvation of mankind.
--His body as bread was eaten by his worshippers
--His priests were “eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven.”
--He was both the Divine Son and the Father.
--On “Black Friday,” he was crucified on a tree, from which his holy blood ran down to redeem the earth.
--He descended into the underworld.
--After three days, Attis was resurrected on March 25 (as tradition held of Jesus) as the “Most High God.

Dionysus/Bacchus

Dionysus or Bacchus is thought of as being Greek, but he is a remake of the Egyptian god Osiris, whose cult extended throughout a large part of the ancient world for thousands of years. Dionysus’s religion was well-developed in Thrace, northeast of Greece, and Phrygia, which became Galatia, where Attis also later reigned. Although a Dionysus is best remembered for the rowdy celebrations in his name, which was Latinized as Bacchus, he had many other functions and contributed several aspects to the Jesus character:

--Dionysus was born of a virgin on December 25 and, as the Holy Child, was placed in a manger.
--He was a traveling teacher who performed miracles.
--He “rode in a triumphal procession on an ass.”
--He was a sacred king killed and eaten in an eucharistic ritual for fecundity and purification.
--Dionysus rose from the dead on March 25.
--He was the God of the Vine, and turned water into wine.
--He was called “King of Kings” and “God of Gods.”
--He was considered the “Only Begotten Son,” Savior,” “Redeemer,” “Sin Bearer,” Anointed One,” and the “Alpha and Omega.”
--He was identified with the Ram or Lamb.
--His sacrificial title of “Dendrites” or “Young Man of the Tree” intimates he was hung on a tree or crucified.

As Walker says, Dionysus was “a prototype of Christ with a cult center at Jerusalem,” where during the 1st century BCE he was worshiped by Jews . . . Dionysus/Bacchus’s symbol was “IHS” or “IES,” which became “Iesus” or “Jesus.” The “IHS” is used to this day in Catholic liturgy and iconography.

,b>Horus/Osiris of Egypt

In the Egyptian myth, Horus and his once-and-future Father, Osiris, are frequently interchangeable, as in “I and my Father are one.” Concerning Osiris, Walker says:

Of all savior-gods worshiped at the beginning of the Christian era, Osiris may have contributed
more details to the evolving Christ figure than any other. Already very old in Egypt, Osiris was
identified with nearly every other Egyptian god and was on the way to absorbing them all. He
had well over 200 divine names. He was called the Lord of Lords, King of Kings, God of Gods.
He was the Resurrection and the Life, the Good Shepherd, Eternity and Everlastingness, the god
who “made men and women to be born again.” Budge says, “From first to last, Osiris was to the
Egyptians the god-man who suffered, an died, and rose again, and reigned eternally in heaven.
They believed that they would inherit eternal life, just as he had done . . .”
Osiris’s coming was announced by Three Wise Men: the three stars Mintaka, Anilam, and
Alnitak in the belt of Orion, which point directly to Osiris’s star in the east, Sirius (Sothis),
significator of his birth . . .
Certainly Osiris was a prototypical Messiah, as well as a devoured Host. His flesh was eaten
in the form of communion cakes of wheat, the “plant of Truth.” . . . The cult of Osiris contributed
a number of ideas and phrases to the Bible. The 23rd Psalm copied an Egyptian text appealing
to Osiris the Good Shepherd to lead the deceased to the “green pastures” and “still waters” of the
nefer-nefer land, to restore the soul to the body, and to give protection in the valley of the shadow
of death (the Tuat). The Lord’s Prayer was prefigured by an Egyptian hymn to Osiris-Amen
beginning, “O Amen, O Amen, who are in heaven.” Amen was also invoked at the end of every
prayer.

As Col. James Chruchward naively exclaims, “The teachings of Osiris and Jesus are wonderfully alike. Many passages are identically the same, word for word.”

Osiris was also the god of the vine and a great travelling teacher who civilized the world. He was the ruler and judge of the dead. In his passion, Osiris was plotted against and killed by Set and “the 72.” Like that of Jesus, Osiris’s resurrection served to provide hope to all that they may do likewise and become eternal.

Osiris’s “son” or renewed incarnation, Horus, shares the following in common with Jesus:

--Horus was born of the virgin Isis-Merion December 25 in a cave/manger with his birth being announced by a star in the East and attended by three wise men.
--His earthly father was named “Seb” (“Joseph”).
--He was of royal descent.
--At at 12, he was a child teacher in the Temple, and at 30, he was baptized having disappeared for 18 years.
--Horus was baptized in the river Eridanus or Iarutana (Jordan) by “Anup the Baptizer” (“John the Baptist”), who was decapitated.
--He had 12 desciples, two of who were his “witnesses” and were named “Anup” and “Aan” (the two “Johns”).
--He performed miracles, exorcised demons and raised El-Azarus (“El-Osiris”), from the dead.
--Horus walked on water.
--His personal epithet was “Iusa,” the “ever-becoming son” of “Ptah,” the “Father.” He was thus called “Holy Child.”
--He delivered a “Sermon on the Mount” and his followers recounted the “Sayings of Iusa.”
--Horus was transfigured on the Mount.
--He was crucified between two thieves, buried for three days in a tomb, and resurrected.
--He was also the “Way, the Truth, the Light,” “Messiah,” “God’s Anointed Son,” “the “Son of Man,” the “Good Shepherd,” the “Lamb of God,” the “Word made flesh,” the “Word of Truth,” etc.
--He was “the Fisher” and was associated with the Fish (“Ichthys”), Lamb and Lion.
--He came to fulfill the Law.
--Horus was called “the KRST,” or “Anointed One.”
--Like Jesus, “Horus was supposed to reign one thousand years.”

Furthermore, inscribed about 3,500 years ago [1500 years before Jesus’ alleged advent] on the walls of the Temple at Luxor were images of the Annunciation, Immaculate Conception, Birth and Adoration of Horus, with Thoth announcing to the Virgin Isis that she will conceive Horus; with Kneph the “Holy Ghost,” impregnating the virgin; and with the infant being attended bh three kings, or magi, bearing gifts. In addition, in the catacombs at Rome are pictures of the baby Horus being held by the virgin mother Isis—the original “Madonna and Child.” As Massey says:

It was the Gnostic art that reproduced the Hathor-Meri and Horus of Egypt as the Virgin
and child-Christ of Rome . . . You poor idiotai, said the Gnostics [to the early Christians],
you have mistaken the mysteries of old for modern history, and accepted literally all that
was only meant mystically.

Krishna of India,/b>

The similarities between the Christian character and the Indian messiah Krishna number in the hundreds, particularly when the early Christian texts now considered apocrypha are factored in. It should be noted that a common earlier English spelling of Krishna was “Christna,” which reveals its relation to “Christ.” Also, in Bengali, Krishna is reputedly “Christos,” which is the same as the Greek for “Christ” and which the soldiers of Alexander the Great called Krishna. It should be further noted that, as with Jesus, Buddha and Osiris, many people have believed and continue to believe in a historical Krishna. The following is a partial list of the correspondences between Jesus and Krishna:
--Krishna was born of the Virgin Devaki (“Divine One”) on December 25.
--His earthly father was a carpenter, who was off in the city paying tax while Krishna was born.
--His birth was signaled by a star in the east and attended by angels and shepherds, at which time he was presented with spices.
--The heavenly hosts danced and sang at his birth.
--He was persecuted by a tyrant who ordered the slaughter of thousands of infants.
--Krishna was anointed on the head with oil by a woman whom he healed.
--He is depicted as having his foot on the head of a serpent.
--He worked miracles and wonders, raising the dead and healing lepers, the deaf and the blind.
--Krishna used parables to teach the people about charity and love, and he “lived poor and he loved the poor.”
--He castigated the clergy, charging them with “ambition and hypocrisy . . . Tradition says he fell victim to their vengeance.”
--Krishna’s “beloved disciple” was Arjuina or Ar-jouan (Jouhn).
--He was transfigured in front of his disciples.
--He gave his disciples the ability to work miracles.
--His path was “strewn with branches.”
--In some traditions he died on a tree or was crucified between two thieves.
--Krishna was killed around the age of 30, and the sun darkened at his death.
--He rose from the dead and ascended to heaven “in the sight of all men.”
--He was depicted on a cross with nail-holes in his feet, as well as having a heart emblem on his clothing.
--Krishna is the “lion of the tribe of Saki.”
--He was called the “Shepherd of God” and considered the “Redeemer,” “Firstborn,” “Sin-Bearer,” “Liberator,” “Universal Word.”
--He was deemed the “Son of God” and “our Lord and Savior,” who came to earth to die for man’s salvation.
--He was the second person of the Trinity.
--His disciples purportedly bestowed upon him the title “Jezeus,” or “Jeseus,” meaning “pure essence.”
--Krishna is to return to judge the dead, riding on a white horse, and to do battle with the “Prince of Evil,” who will desolate the earth.

Mithra of Persia

--Mithra was born of a virgin on December 25 in a cave, and his birth was attended by shepherds bearing gifts.
--He was considered a great traveling teacher and master.
--He had 12 companions or disciples.
--Mithra’s followers were promised immortality.
--He performed miracles.
--As the “great bull of the Sun,” Mithra sacrificed himself for world peace.
--He was buried in atomb and after three days rose again.
--His resurrection was celebrated every year.
--He was called “the Good Shepherd” and identified with both the Lamb and the Lion.
--He was considered the “Way, the Truth and the Light,” and the “Logos,” [Word] “Redeemer,” “Savior” and “Messiah.”
--His sacred day was Sunday, the “Lord’s Day,” hundreds of years before the appearance of Christ.
--Mithra had his principal festival on what was later to become Easter.
--His religion had a eucharist or “Lord’s Supper,” at which Mithra said, “He who shall nto eat of my body nor drink of my blood so that he may be one with me and I with him, shall not be saved.”
--“His annual sacrifice is the Passover of the Magi, a symbolical atonement of pledge of moral and physical regeneration.”

Furthermore, the Vatican itself is built upon the papacy of Mithra, and the Christian hierarchy is nearly identical to the Mithraic version it replaced . . .
. . . Virtually all of the elements of the Catholic ritual, from miter to wafer to altar to doxology, are directly taken from earlier Pagan mystery religions.

Zoroaster/Zarathustra

--Zoroaster was born of a virgin and “immaculate conception by a ray of divine reason.”
--He was baptized in a river.
--In his youth he astounded wise men with his wisdom.
--He was tempted in the wilderness by the devil.
--He began his ministry at age 30.
--Zoroaster baptized with water, fire and “holy wind.”
--He cast out demons and restored the sight to a blind man.
--He taught about heaven and hell, and revealed mysteries, including resurrection, judgment, salvation and the apocalypse.
--He had a sacred cup or grail.
--He was slain.
--His religion had a eucharist.
--He was the “Word made flesh.”
--Zoroaster’s followers expected a “second coming” in the virgin-born Saoshynt or Savior, who is to come in 2341 CE and begin his ministry at age 30, ushering in a golden age.

This sort of reminds me of the question about why god stopped trotting out "miracles" at the same time that science developed the technologies to disprove them.

Coincidence?

Very true, makes me think if "God made us in his image" but he is wiser, why is it that
we can disaprove everything "he says"???

But technologies belongs to "The Devil" careful he is making us confuse...

I wonder why rmlsf has stop responding???

(3.) Case number three: In Kings 32-25 Elisha went into a house where a child lay dead on his bed. Note, it says he was dead. Well, Elisha lay on the bed and put his mouth on the child’s mouth, eyes on eyes, and hands on hands. Stretched out on the child, the child began to wax warm. Then Elisha walked around a bit and then returned to the child and stretched himself on the child must be the same as Elijah in the first story. Well, lo and behold, the child sneezed seven times and opened his eyes. (Seven is a big number in biblical lore.) Oh, I forgot to mention that Elisha prayed to the LORD, so I guess the child’s return to life was engineered by God. This is a recurring theme, i.e. God never comes in person to do things, but always does them through a human being. Makes you wonder if there really is a god.

(4.) Number four is a great one. You only have to touch the bones of a dead person. When Elisha died, they buried him in a sepulcher. The Moabites were invading the land, and when some men were burying a man, they spied a band of men (supposedly Moabites), so they cast the dead man’s body into the sepulcher of Elisha, and when the dead man touched the bones of Elisha, he revived and stood upon his feet.

Here a man is brought back to life from the dead without God, Jesus or prayer. It happened just by touching the bones of a prophet. My, my, will wonders never cease.

(5.) Now we move on to the New Testament. In Luke 9:28-30 Jesus took Peter, John and James up unto a mountain to pray. While there the apostles saw Jesus speaking with Moses and Elias (Elijah). Well, is this a reviving of the dead or what? Nonetheless, it is dead people coming to life in order to converse with Jesus. I always believed that when you are dead, you are dead.

(6.) In Matthew 27:53-53, just as Jesus gave up the ghost and died on the cross, there was an earthquake and rocks rent and the graves were opened, and many bodies of the saints which slept arose. They came out of their graves after his resurrection, and went into the body of the city, and appeared unto many.

How is this for pure fiction? Dead people rising out of their graves and going into town. This falls right up there with another lie in Luke 9:27 where Jesus said, “But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.” Those people standing there with Jesus all died and never saw the kingdom of God. This lie is right next to the lie of the saints rising from the dead.

Here we cannot say definitely what caused the saints to arise—Jesus—God—or fiction.

(7.) According to Matthew 9:18 et seq., a ruler came to Jesus and said his daughter was dead. Jesus went to his house and said, “Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleepeth.” Jesus took her by the hand and she rose. In verse 26, it says that, “And the fame thereof went abroad into all that land.” Yet, there is no record of it anywhere in the history books. This is also repeated in Mark 5:22 and indicates it was Jairus’ daughter.

Was she asleep or dead? The father said she was dead, and Jesus said she was sleeping. Well, what is so miraculous about waking a sleeping person? Personally, this drivel makes one want to puke.

(8.) Jesus and his disciples went into the city of Nain. As he approached the gate of the city, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother. Jesus having compassion for the woman told her not to cry. Jesus then touched the bier, and said, “Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.” And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. Well, there is no doubt, Jesus brings a dead man back to life. This is recorded in Luke 7:11-15.

(9.) Chapter 11 of John is enlightening. Mary and Martha send word to Jesus that Lazarus was sick. As they were sojourning to where Lazarus was, Jesus corrected that immediately. In verse 14, Jesus said, “Lazarus is dead.” When Jesus got to Lazarus, he said, “Lazarus, come forth.” And he that was dead came forth,…”

Here Jesus pronounces Lazarus dead and then proceeds to revive him. Fiction? I think so.

(10.) Acts 9:36-41. Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas; this woman was full of good works and alms-deeds which she did. And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died; whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber. And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them. Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber; and all the widows stood by him weeping and showing the coats and and garments which Dorcas made when she was with them. But Peter put them all forth and knelled down, and prayed and turning him to the body said, “Tabitha arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up. And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.

Here we have Peter raising Tabitha from the dead. Do you believe this? Does anyone among the 6-7 billion people on earth, believe certain individuals on this planet have the supernatural ability to bring the dead back to life? I think not. Whoever wrote these stories in the bible had an agenda to get people to believe in their concept of a god. There are no miracles. There is just our natural not supernatural world, and dead is dead.

OK I HAVE DONE MY WORK.

I'M DONE!
