Vatican City 06/2000

click on the icon above to see the photos -

Today we went to Vatican City.  It was my 2nd time there, and Melissa's first.  We had a really fun and informative tour guide who was from Maryland and it was nice to be around someone who spoke unfiltered english.  I don't know what it is with me and Vatican City but I always can only shoot with a little pocket camera.  I brought out the big gun Fuji S5 but forgot to bring a CF card!!!
Last time I came I brought the Fuji S20 and the battery was so dead it had like one shot left in it.  Oh the other thing is either I laughed too loud or talked too loud anyway the cop came up and said hold it down.  Imagine that!

What was funny is in the last photo where the two of us are at St Peter's Square, Lauren, our tour guide took our photo, but said it needed more fill flash.  I had no idea how to "force" flash on my Canon PowerShot, so she says, here let me set it on Manual, pops through some buttons and takes a shot with fill flash in the middle of the bright backlit square.  It was funny because supposedly I am a famous photographer and I had no idea how to work the camera.
Honestly, I really like shooting with the point and shoots.  If you look at the quality of the images, all taken with the PowerShot 870, I think you'll agree there's not a huge reason to bring a big camera.

Before I throw my canon rebel xt or new laptop out the window I thought I would consult you and see if you could help me. I have a new laptop with vista and put my eos utility on it and tried to download the update for vista and it still won't let me download my pictures onto my computer. Since you seem to be so knowledgeable about this stuff I thought I would see if you could help. I tried canon's website and still can't get it to work. So your my last resort before i throw either the camera or the laptop. LOL

I love my new Canon Powershot 870is... I bought one on friday for my birthday.  It shoots so nice at 800 & 1600.... such a cute and fast easy camera to use!  (I only wish they had it in designer colors.... like pink!)

Looks like you guys are having fun on vaction!

@christaw88 -

Dude, VISTA sucks!

Get yourself a card reader pop the card into that and drag and drop the images to your system.
Vista can't recognize your cameras firmware. If you are going to throw it out the windows let me give you
my address so you can throw it this way instead!

:)

Vista sucks so much that they had to put XP back on the store shelves, and wait till the end of the year when
Windows code name 7 comes out. I would wait for atleast a year before upgrading.

Micro$oft rushes things out and then and only then after they have your money will they start dealing with security
issues and bugs...

So here are your choices:

#3 get a card reader.

#2 Down grade to XP.

#1 Just get a MAC!

:)

Hey Gary!,

Quick question.

I been to Italy 3 times but never had the chance to visit the Vatican, so maybe you can hit me up with some questions I have on your images.

What's up with the Mummy? is this a "Saint" ???

and how about the the statute missing his pecker?!?!? is that his dick in his hands that he ripped himself?

Geesh! those uniforms are horrenta-ble-fug-gly!... and if no one can say that religion is not all based on money then look at the pictures again!

that mummy was just something that the vatican has in its museum. The vatican has one of the world's most valuable art collections, so it might as well have mummies. This would be Egyptian, so not a saint.

The statue is holding a strap-on dildo. He did not have a pecker so he had a strap-on.

Those uniforms are Swiss guards. The idea is that if you fight with them it is too hard to be foreceful because the uniforms make you giggle and therefore lose your fierceness.

P.S. REGARDING VISTA - IT IS THE BIGGEST PIECE OF GARBAGE. GET XP.

"He did not have a pecker so he had a strap-on."

-Early "Greek" influences!

"The idea is that if you fight with them it is too hard
to be foreceful because the uniforms make you giggle and therefore lose your fierceness."

-You're kidding me right?

The Vatican is all about money.

They have the "Tourin Shroud" or something like that, which is supposed to be what they wrapped
Jesus in when burried in the cave, it was found floating in the dead sea with his image in blood
but could not be washed away... weird and a wat-ever at that one!

They migh aswell aquire all of Michael Jacksons collection as well.
He has the Elephant Man's bones, and that shrine he has for Elizabeth Taylor would look good
in there somewhere.

:)

Have you notice that MicroSoft has been sticking it to us hard...

Follow me on this one.

Windows CE... Windows ME... Windows NT...

What does that Spell? CEMENT!
Your ass is stuck with us now!

XP?!?!?! Extra Problems?

Hasta la "Vista!"

???

Now they are working on Windows 7...
Seven Deadly Sins?

Remember Vista was called Long Horn?
Bill is the Devil!

Ha!

I really appreciate that you wrote about learning from a tour guide.  That is so amazing that we can learn from anyone even when we "have made it."

I just picked up an SD1100IS and I was blown away by the image quality and the features. We were in Maui and I found myself leaving the SLR at the condo more and more often as the week went on. With a newborn son, I love the video option too!
