 NEED YOUR INPUT
Here's some quick concepts from Erik at Reddoorla.com - which one do you lean to?  This is going to be a pre-publication issue only before the publisher takes over.  I'll explain more later but let me know what you like!

The title Snaps has already been used by another author.

What's up?
Definitely the first one, though I wish they would reconfigure the black circle to represent shutter/aperture.

The baby in crowning :>)

If I HAD to choose one, I'd choose #2. The books that catch my eye on the shelves are usually light in color and a simple background of one picture and it's usually pertaining to the title or something in the book. Although I haven't read it, "The Lovely Bones" comes to mind. That cover is enticing to me. And now I think I may get it!

Love the first One. The color, simplicity, and timeless vintage feel will make it a big sale. I can see it on shirts, and on the Highway columns. Which one can people remember just at the first glance. It would definitly be the first one.

I read robert Kiosoki purposely use the colors purple, black, gold, people can easily idenify the brand.

I agree with Missycarl. None of these covers reflect the class act that you are.

gary, i'm just going to be honest. i'm a designer as well and i know reddoor and i like their work a lot, but i'm quite surprised with what they came up. it don't know if any of the concepts gave your book any justice. using your exact words - "The title is all about photography, snap decisions, snap judgements, and even people around me who have snapped." neither of these convey that message except for number 3. however, number 3 is a little difficult to read the title. maybe number 1, but not quite sure. i would love to offer my services and help you out, but i know you have a commitment with them and i honor that loyality. hopefully they can push your idea a little further. and i think they will, they're very talented.

Thinking of You...
1 catches my attention the most, but i wish the circle meant something. is it a lens?
2 is nice, but it makes me think it's about movies or the theater
3 i don't like it, and the text takes concentration to read. it loses me.
4 looks cheesy, high school'ish

what happened to your concept?

They are all okay but nothing jumps out at me and says "read me!" I'd say 2 or 3. 1 is boring looking which might make a reader think the book is boring. 4 is too busy which might make a reader think the book is too complicated to read. 3 makes good use of the white space. 2 is colorful and easy to look at which might make the reader think the book will be this way too.

Gary, if I have to pick one it would be #3. This one conveys the idea of the title while remaining quickly readable and the simplicity of the design is striking. #2 and #4 are way too busy and #1 looks really cheap. I work in marketing with designers. I find that often designers forget that above all any designed piece needs to be READABLE while eye-catching!!

Overall, I cannot say that I like any of the designs. They don't reflect quality or class and I think that that is what your life is about - quality and class - from what I can see. Deanna Bean

I like 1 for it's impact. However, maybe if it were an weathered aperture graphic instead of a plain circle? To help convey a little whats in the book. I agree about the snapshots of you are not to important to those people who don't know you. It just adds clutter. I LOVE number 2 but don't think it has a ton of impact directly related to your book's content in any way. Therefore, it's not as appropriate.
Looking forward to the book!

I like #3. The 1st one is too plain and old fashion, 2 and 4 are too busy. So, it's number 3 for me.

the first one for its' simplicity, but none of them really grab me.

the last two are completely busy and i don't know where to have my eyes look.

what is the main subject that the viewer's eyes need to go to? is it the title or the images?

they just aren't working with each other on these.
