| ||ACUPUNCTURE WORKS|
I have had this bad shoulder problem for quite a while. I pretty much wore those stick-on Ben Gay pads everyday. It just kept getting worse despite massages (which would fix it for a day) chiropractic (which would fix it for two days) and then it got bad again. So I went an acupuncturist named Dr. Goh - he's from mainland China.
He's a very very quiet man. Kind of like one of those guys on the "Kung Fu" TV show. When I came in for my 2nd treatment, I said the pain is reduced a lot. He said, "should be". And then when he was applying the needs - one of them I actually felt slightly. He said, "better?" and it was instantly better. And I said, what was it? And he said, "too shallow"
He does this thing called "cupping" where he puts suction cups all over the area which makes you wind up with spectacularly uniform and multicolored bruises. Mine doesn't look as bad as this photo to the right:
Anyway it is so awesome to be free from this discomfort. You totally don't feel the needles - you can't even tell that they are there. He put in 24 needles, and let me lay down for an hour while he heated my back with an infrared lamp.
Because the body is a bunch of electrical pathways, these needles help short-circuit certain nerve pathways to promote re-directing energy to other parts which need healing. These needles are so small- the fraction of the diameter of a strand of hair - that you can't feel it. And they pass by the nerve endings so you don't feel them.
If you have neck or back pain, this is a great way to get it to heal. The only reason you're in pain is because the area is strained, and it just needs some healing. It is only gross looking and scary when you're watching it being done to someone else. When it's you, it just feels like relief.
