| | I CAN USE MY ARMS AND LEGS!
Today was an awesome day. I finally figured out what was wrong with my golf swing and so I went out to the driving range and hit a bucket of balls with satisfying consistency. I am officially hooked on golf.
Then I came back to the ranch, and Rodin was being extra sweet and needy... I sat on the fence and he would stick his yard-long furry head into my chest and nuzzle. And then I discovered that he really enjoyed being led around, so I would just rub him under his chin and walk around the pasture and he would follow me! Then I would just walk around without touching his chin, and he would still follow me! So I climbed up on the fence, and it goes like this:
I said, "Rodin, I want to climb on your back" (bareback, mind you - and he's all of four years old). So big dopey horse walks up parallel to the fence, and I said come closer big boy, and he actually pulled up parallel to the fence! So I put my foot over his super-wide back, and pulled him closer to the fence, and he gently inched over... basically an invitation for me to climb on!
So I jumped on his back, but still kind of hung onto the fence. While I ride him often, it's with a bridle on and a saddle! He had no idea what was going on - and he didn't buck but he shifted. Well he's so huge that just shifting his weight from one foot to another moves him like 10 feet, so there I go, landing on my head! Saw a spark with that one!
I hear Missy running out from the barn, "Honey! Honey!" and I see big dumbo looking at me with his beautiful, huge, dopey eyes looking totally apologetic. He looked so sorry and awkward, and I apologized to him and he just kept kissing me with his furry muzzle.
Then we saddled up and I rode him around the arena, and he was so good. He and I make a silly pair -- Lindsay said no horse would come up and let me jump on him, and no other idiot would jump on 17hh horse bareback with no bridle. |
